About Amanda – Founder of Dough & Nourish

Hi, I’m Amanda – a creator at heart, a little bit of a rebel in the kitchen, and someone who genuinely believes that real food has the power to change how we feel, live, and thrive.

My journey with sourdough started almost a decade ago, long before it became trendy. I still remember the day I mixed my very first starter… let’s just say it looked more like a science experiment than anything edible. It took me eight months to bake my first successful loaf – eight months of flops, flat pancakes pretending to be bread, and a whole lot of stubborn determination. But the moment I pulled that first beautiful loaf from the oven, something in me clicked. I knew this wasn’t just a hobby. It was the beginning of a vision.

That vision eventually became Dough & Nourish – a place where good food meets genuine care. Everything I create here is rooted in the belief that bread and fermented foods should nourish your body, not fight with it. I’ve spent years learning, experimenting, improving, and understanding how real fermentation, mindful ingredient choices, and proper techniques can transform your gut, your energy, and your relationship with food.

But I’m more than just a sourdough girl.

I’m a designer, a photographer (student in progress), a course creator, a teacher by nature, and someone who loves bringing ideas to life – whether that’s in the form of a loaf of bread, a recipe, a website, a video course, or even a beautifully styled food photo. I thrive on creating things that feel warm, honest, and helpful. Dough & Nourish lets me blend all the things I love – food, creativity, teaching, design, and a good dose of humour – into something that I can share with the world.

Today, I help people make bread that’s easy to digest, gentle on the gut, full of flavour, and made with intention. No intimidation, no gatekeeping, no “you must have this equipment.” Just real food made simple again.

If you’re here because you want to learn, heal, create, or simply enjoy something wholesome – welcome. You’re in the right place.
