About Amanda – Founder of Dough & Nourish
Amanda van Vuuren is an entrepreneur, educator, designer and lifelong student of traditional food skills. Over the past three decades, she has built and operated businesses across a remarkable range of industries, including bakeries, coffee shops, natural skincare manufacturing, ozone therapy, graphic design, corporate branding, information technology, training, hospitality, events and retail.
Her business experience includes managing an IT company that delivered solutions for major corporate clients, owning and operating a commercial bakery, coffee shop, wedding venue and nightclub, developing a successful range of natural skincare products, and training professionals in business intelligence, data analytics and Microsoft technologies.
Throughout every venture, one common theme remained: a passion for understanding systems, solving problems and helping others learn practical skills.
Today, Amanda is the founder of Dough & Nourish, an educational platform dedicated to preserving and teaching traditional food preparation methods. Drawing on more than a decade of sourdough baking experience and a lifetime of entrepreneurship, she teaches students how to confidently create wholesome foods including sourdough bread, pizza, pasta, cultured dairy products, gelato and clay pot meals.
Amanda believes that food is more than nutrition. It is a connection to culture, family, community and self-reliance. Her mission is to help people rediscover the confidence that comes from understanding how food is made and to preserve traditional skills that can be shared with future generations.
Whether teaching a beginner how to bake their first loaf of bread or mentoring future instructors through the Dough & Nourish certification programme, Amanda combines practical experience, clear instruction and genuine enthusiasm to make complex skills approachable and enjoyable for everyone.
